My house has mice. Little furry blondish brown haired little handed mice. I love mice. I pretty much love all animals. I do not like spiders, but they are not animals.
Anyway, after a mouse raced across my kitchen counter about 1 week ago, I decided I needed to take some action. I went to the hardware store and bought two live traps. Well, I caught several of the little lovelies in about 2 days. I have set them up in a very swanky snake tank (the former occupant passed away a few months ago, and have been feeding them peanut butter, cheese, seeds and fruit. They don't seem very happy with their living arrangements. I was stirring them up so that my 10 year old could see them jump around in the tank (they are seriously like little furry ping pong balls) and the biggest one jumped about 4 1/2 feet right out of the cage. Well, needless to say, I no longer stir them up.
This morning, I went to check on the little sweetlings and they were gone! Gone I say!!! I went to clean out the tank a few hours later and was dumping all of the playground equipment into a bucket to bleach and get rid of the bedding material. I found four mice hiding under the water bowl, like little spidermen holding on to the sides holding very still. It made me very happy to see that they are still there and not creeping back into my home.
Later today, we shall take them to Turkey Mountain and release them. They will probably be eaten pretty quickly by bigger predators but at least they won't be subject to the horrific experience of a sticky paper or mouse trap. Although, I guess a mousetrap would be quicker. I just can't do it though.
Anyway, my facebook page has been hilarious with the people commenting on my adventures with the mice. I don't see a quick end to this mouse infestation but plan on enjoying it as much as I can.
Take it easy!
